Peridot - August Birthstone

Happy August everyone! It's the last hurrah for family trips before kids head back to school and Moms sip some well earned martinis as they send them on their way! What better stone to capture the glow of the end of summer than Peridot! 

Peridot is a sensational glowing green stone and has the distinction of being one of a very few stones that only come in one color. It is fairly rare and considered a precious mineral. Peridot is mined all over the US in places such as Egypt North Carolina, Arizona on the San Carlos Reservation, Hawaii, Nevada, and New Mexico at Kilbourne Hole.

Many people believe Peridot has cleansing properties, both physically and emotionally. It is believed to aid with disorders of the liver and kidneys as well as digestive issues. Peridot is also said to alleviate depression because it opens, cleanses and activates the heart, which can help one to release old baggage.
